Nilofar and her husband, Masihullah, have spent nine years trying to grow their family. Along the way, they experienced heartbreaking loss, losing two babies shortly after birth because their local hospital was not equipped to treat severe newborn jaundice.
Nilofar has a rare blood type that can cause serious complications if her baby’s blood type is incompatible. Without quick treatment, newborns can develop life-threatening jaundice and anemia. Years ago, however, their third child survived thanks to timely care at Afshar Hospital.
So when Nilofar became pregnant again, they made the eight-hour journey back to Afshar Hospital for the birth of their son, Ali Reza, who arrived at just 33 weeks. Although he was born strong, he quickly developed the same complications as his siblings.
For 20 days, baby Ali Reza received intensive care, including phototherapy and two blood transfusions, while doctors monitored him around the clock.

Today, he is healthy and thriving at home thanks to the team at Afshar Hospital. His parents say they are deeply grateful not only for the lifesaving treatment, but also for the guidance and compassion they received every step of the way.
