Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC) hosted AMOR’s Nursing Director during his first trip to the U.S. where he trained with staff on resuscitation techniques.Miagul will take the training back to Afghanistan to implement at Afshar Hospital. CRMC also graciously donated much needed equipment including Neopuff infant resuscitators and CPAP circuts. The donation of this equipment will allow the staff to more effectively treat the growing number of patients seen at the nursery.
While much of his time here in the U.S. was spent training with local pediatricians along with the neonatal team at Community Regional Medical Center, Fresno (CRMC). He additioanlly came to the U.S. to accept the Unsung Heroes of Compassion Award from the Dalai Lama. The award is given by San Fransisco nonprofit Wisdom in Action and bestowed once every four years on 51 individuals who show outstanding compassion and commitment to the less fortunate in their communities. Miagul was chosen for his work in neonatology, a burgeoning field in Afghanistan; he represents the first Afghan to receive the award.
