Earlier this month, the Consulate of Mexico’s Consulado Sobre Ruedas (Consulate on Wheels) program set a new record during its four-day visit to the AMOR Wellness Center, assisting more Mendota residents than ever before.
More than 350 community members took advantage of the opportunity to obtain birth certificate copies, apply for or renew passports, receive ID cards, and more. For many, traveling to Fresno for these services isn’t an option, making visits like this critical for the community.
Appointments filled quickly, yet dozens of residents lined up early each morning for a chance at a walk-in slot. The overwhelming demand highlighted the importance of accessible consular services in rural areas.
“We are deeply grateful to collaborate with the consulate in providing their essential services to our community and are truly impressed by the remarkable turnout,” expressed Stephanie Franco, AMOR’s Rural Program Supervisor.
After this successful visit, consulate representatives expressed their hope to return to Mendota “very soon,” reinforcing their commitment to serving the community in partnership with AMOR Wellness.
