In the village of Ladyzhynka, 12 children between the ages of 4 and 6 gather each day at their local kindergarten to learn and play.
When the AMOR Ukraine Health Organization (AUHO) team visited the school, they brought clothing, blankets and toys for every child. The kids lit up with excitement as they received their gifts, eagerly showing one another what they had received, and playing with their new toys. During the visit, however, the teachers shared a deeper concern.
The AUHO team learned that recent attacks on the city’s power plant had caused constant outages and frequent air raid sirens. When the power went out, the kindergarten building and its basement shelter quickly turned cold and damp, making it difficult for the children to stay warm or continue their lessons.
After hearing this, the AUHO team took immediate action and donated a generator to the kindergarten that is equipped to keep the heat on and the lights running. Now, even during the worst blackouts, the children can stay warm, safe, and focused on what matters most, learning and simply being kids.
