AMOR’s 10th annual Gala on the Bluffs brought together friends, supporters, and community leaders for an unforgettable evening of celebration and generosity. Held at Grand on the Bluffs, the event raised an incredible $160K to support AMOR’s life-saving work in Afghanistan, Mendota, and Ukraine.
Guests enjoyed a night filled with live and silent auctions, dinner, cocktails, dancing, a cigar lounge, and plenty of photo-worthy moments. Yet beyond the festivities, the true heart of the evening was the impact made possible by every gift, bid, and donation.
Providing Warmth and Education in Afghanistan
Donors showed heartfelt support for two pressing needs at AMOR’s Afshar Hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan. The first fund-a-need was for Embrace Nest Infant Warmers. These specialized devices keep premature and critically ill newborns warm during transport from the maternity ward to the neonatal nursery, which is crucial for the babies’ survival.
The warmers are designed to work even during unpredictable power outages, an ongoing challenge in the region, and after a decade of use and multiple repairs, can now be replaced to help even more infants in need.
Additionally, funds were raised to support a full year of English classes for Afshar Hospital staff. Held three times a week, these classes are especially impactful for female staff. In a country where educational opportunities for women and girls remain limited, they provide a rare and meaningful chance to grow in their medical careers.
As language skills improve, staff can more easily access and understand the latest research and best practices in patient care. Ultimately, this investment in education will continue to strengthen the quality of care at Afshar Hospital and help save the lives of mothers and infants.
Feeding Families and Filling Diaper Bags in Mendota
AMOR’s local project, the AMOR Wellness Center in Mendota, CA, received a significant boost for its Emergency Food Pantry and Diaper Pantry. Donations will help restock pantry shelves with nutritious food items, including milk, eggs, meat, beans, rice, and canned goods, as well as family-size hygiene products like shampoo, body wash, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.
The pantry serves as a lifeline for hundreds of families facing food insecurity, especially between farming seasons, and offers the support they need to keep their loved ones nourished.
Guests also gave generously to support the Diaper Pantry, which provides free diapers, wipes, and pull-ups in every size to babies and toddlers in need from Mendota and surrounding communities. For many families, this support is crucial and helps ease a financial burden that can quickly become overwhelming for those already struggling to make ends meet.
After recent federal budget cuts, the pantry was left with only a third of its usual diaper supply. But thanks to the generosity shown at the gala, AMOR can begin rebuilding inventory and continue meeting the basic needs of local families with young children.
Delivering Hope to Ukraine’s Families and Frontline Workers
In Ukraine, gala proceeds will bring much-needed support to orphaned children and displaced families through monthly deliveries of food, clothing, school supplies, and toys. These deliveries bring comfort, stability, and a sense of normalcy during uncertain times.
Donors also came together to help fund deliveries of medical supplies, including IV fluids, antibiotics, and emergency equipment, to hospitals in Ukraine’s most devastated regions. These supplies help frontline health workers treat patients and save lives, even in the most difficult conditions.
