Our Story

At AMOR, our mission is to improve the health status of the communities we serve. We are a community based non-profit that strives to ensure equity. We build alliances with other organizations, working in areas of concentrated poverty, to create access to healthcare, mental health services, social services, and education. Partnerships and resources are tailored to the specific needs of each community that we serve.

Why Health?

Healthy Families = Thriving Communities

An investment in quality, affordable healthcare & health education not only enriches individual lives, it creates economic benefits for communities. According to the Prevention Institute, for every dollar spent on wellness & preventative healthcare, we can expect to see a 5-to-1 return on investment within five years.

Our Journey.

2008
Founded, Fresno California, USA
Alliance for Medical Outreach & Relief (AMOR) was founded in 2008 with a vision to build healthier communities in areas of concentrated poverty. Today AMOR works around the globe in Afghanistan, Mendota CA, and Ukraine.
2008
2009
Kabul, Afghanistan
Our cornerstone project began in Kabul, Afghanistan in 2009. Maternal and child mortality rates in Afghanistan were among the worst in the world. 1 in 7 women were dying from complications related to childbirth and 1 on 5 children were dying from preventable and treatable diseases. AMOR took initiative and opened Afshar Hospital in Kabul in an effort to increase access to quality and affordable health care for all. For more than ten years, AMOR Afghanistan Health Organization (AAHO) has provided maternal and neonatal care, preventative care, health education, and many opportunities to improve the quality of life for families and their communities.
2009
2017
Mendota, California, USA
In 2017 AMOR identified a vital need for resources in our Central Valley backyard of West Fresno County. In 2020 our first domestic project, AMOR Wellness Center opened its doors in Mendota, CA. This project is aimed at increasing access to health care, behavioral health support, education, social support, and other life-enriching services for underserved farm workers and their families who live and work in the San Joaquin Valley—the breadbasket of the world.
2017
2022
Kyiv, Ukraine
In 2022 Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. AMOR stayed true to its mission and established its second global project, AMOR Ukraine Health Organization (AUHO). This project is designed to serve as a pipeline for essential resources such as medication, medical equipment, and humanitarian relief to support Ukraine’s healthcare system and improve the lives of those who are being affected by the war.
