EECU Mobile Branch Helps Nearly 200 Mendota Residents at AMOR Wellness

The AMOR Wellness Center’s partnership with Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU) is making a big difference for families and individuals in Mendota.

Before this partnership, many residents had to travel long distances for basic banking needs or relied on check-cashing services with high fees. This was especially challenging for families without access to reliable transportation. Residents shared with AMOR Wellness staff how difficult it was to manage their finances without a checking account or having to maintain one out of town.

Over the past six months, EECU’s mobile branch has helped nearly 200 residents open checking and savings accounts, make deposits and withdrawals, and access essential financial services.
The mobile branch was originally scheduled to visit just once a month, but demand quickly grew as more residents learned about the service. Now, the mobile branch visits the AMOR Wellness Center twice a month to better serve the community.

Compared to traditional banks, EECU’s credit union services offer a more financially accessible option, with only a $5 minimum required to keep a checking account open and lower fees overall. Parents can also open savings accounts for their children, introducing financial literacy early and helping set them up for long-term success.

Many families have also expressed how much they appreciate the EECU team, not only for offering these services, but also for taking the time to explain how everything works.
Thanks to this partnership, families in Mendota are gaining the tools to manage their money with confidence and the financial stability every family deserves to grow and thrive.

EECU’s mobile branch is available every 2nd and 3rd Friday of the month from 11am – 3pm in front of the AMOR Wellness Neighborhood Resource Center. Scheduled dates can be viewed at amorwellness.org/events.
